Log Cabin Quilt (BAKERSFIELD)
Time for a return of a classic quilt. This is one of Andi's go to quilt patterns. It is an easy quilt that is great for beginners and experienced quilters alike. It can be made in a baby quilt on up to a king sized quilt. We will be making the lap sized quilt in class.
This is a two evening class with some homework. The students will be able to choose between using a jelly roll or yardage. We will be using a strip method of sewing in class.
Only the quilt top will be completed in class
Supplies:
- Book: Quilt in a day by Eleanor Burns
- Sewing machine in good working order
- your machine manual
- 1/4" foot/quilting foot/piecing foot
- Small snippy scissors and large scissors
- Mettler light grey thread number 0331
- one wound bobbin
- Rotary cutter with a new blade
- cutting mat (recommend at least 18" X 24")
- 8 1/2 by 24 1/2 inch ruler and a 10 1/2 inch square ruler
- seam ripper
- glass head pins
- a Project box to keep everything together
One Jelly roll or Cut prior to class
1/8 yard of light fabric - cut one 2.5" strip
1/4 yard of light fabric - cut three 2.5" strips
3/8 yard of light fabric - cut five 2.5" strips
1/2 yard of light fabric - cut seven 2.5" strips
1/3 yard of dark fabric - cut four 2.5" strips
1/2 yard of dark fabric - cut six 2.5" strips
2/3 yard of dark fabric - cut eight 2.5" strips
3/4 yard of fabric for border
1/2 yard for binding
3 yards of backing
50 X 70 piece of batting
