Carolyn Pajamas (BAKERSFIELD)
Join Bethani for 2 sessions sewing together a set of Carolyn Pajamas. Learn the basic 'rule of thumb' when it comes to picking a pattern size based on your measurements. How to read the pattern, and how to find the provided slash locations to lengthen or shorten basic patterns.
Pajamas are a great starting point into clothing - the elastic waist pants are super easy to sew together with practice sewing in the round. Stepping up skills with the button top, learning how to clip and turn collars and mark button holes. The Carolyn Pajamas also introduce the practice of seam allowance, a marking on the machine's plate used to keep an even seam/stitch.
Session 0: April 19th students can come in at any time during store hours for help taking basic measurements and picking a pattern size to figure out yardage. (On average, a top can take about 2 yards and pants about 3 yards)
**Fabric will need to be pre-washed, dried, and ironed before first class
**Bring your own lunch - break will be from 12 - 1
Session 1: Students will start by cutting out their pattern, first the paper and then from fabric *Students are encouraged to buy Pattern Ease to trace their pattern size and save their original pattern as a 'Master Copy' that they can go back to. Should patterns need lengthened or shortened, those adjustments will be made now. We will then start working on the pants/shorts.
Session 2: We will continue work on the pants/shorts as needed and then move onto completing the shirt.
