Serger Club (CALIMESA)
Join us monthly to have some fun with our sergers. Each month we’ll focus on a particular stitch or technique.
For February, we’ll be making eye glass cases utilizing the 4-thread overlock stitch and differential feed. If you want to be creative, bring some woolly nylon/ Maxi-Lock stretch or variegated threads. These come together quickly so if you’d like to make more than one, bring additional materials.
Materials for one eye glass case:
* Outside Fabric - 7”x7” square
* Lining Fabric – 7”x7” square
* Fleece batting – 7”x7” square
* Stiffen Interfacing – 7”x7” square
* 4 spools serger thread (spools in upper and lower loopers can be woolly nylon or variegated threads)
* Scraps of fabric to practice on
Tools:
* Serger w/ manual, needles, and accessories
* Rotary cutter (optional)
* Ruler
* Marking tool – chalk or Frixion erasable pen
* Fabric scissors, thread snips
* Straight pins or clips
* Large eye hand sewing needle
