Serger Club (CALIMESA)
Join us monthly to have some fun with our sergers. Each month we’ll focus on a particular stitch or technique.
For October - This month we will welcome fall by making adorable stuffed pumpkin center piece utilizing the 3-thread rolled edge stitch.
Tools:
• Serger w/ manual, needles, and accessories
• Rotary cutter (optional)
• Ruler
• Fabric scissors, thread snips
• Straight pins or clips
• Hand sewing needle to baste
• Large eye hand sewing needle
• Point turner, chop stick or other tool to poke out corners
Materials for (1) pumpkin:
* (6) 6" x 12" pieces of fabric for the body
* Assorted 5" x 5" felt scraps for the leaves
* Empty spool of thread or wine cork for the stem - you may want to paint your cork/ spool prior to class. Instructor will have extra corks for students to use.
* 3yds Embroidery floss for the "ribs"
* Stuffing/ Polyfill (a 12oz bag will stuff 3 pumpkins)
* 3 spools serger thread to match your project - Wooly nylon or Maxilock Stretch will work great in the upper looper for this project!
