Beginning Sewing (CALIMESA)

       This three-session beginning sewing class will provide students with the knowledge, confidence, and abilities to operate a sewing machine and make a simple garment. The class size is small to allow for plenty of individual attention.  

   Students will learn the parts of the sewing machine, thread it, wind a bobbin, and basic care. We will also learn about different fabrics, how to take proper body measurements and adjusting a pattern to fit. We'll walk through all steps of preparing fabric, cutting patterns, and stitching the project. 

   Students will be making a versatile basic blouse. Instructor will supply all sewing tools (scissors, pins, etc.) but students are welcome to bring their own to the second and third sessions.

Supply List:

• Students will be sewing on Baby Lock Joy machines that will be provided by the shop.
• Note take supplies

Materials:

• Fat quarter of cotton fabric – 18” x 22” (needed for first session and can be purchased that day)

• Strata Top pattern (Discussed at first session, purchase prior to second session)

• Fabric for selected project (Discussed at first session, purchase prior to second session)

• Matching thread (Discussed at first session, purchase prior to second session)

Students will receive a 10% discount on class supplies.
