The Donny Shirt (CALIMESA)
Ready to take the next step in your garment sewing journey? This two-session,
hands-on sewing class will guide students through completing the Donny Shirt
from start to finish.
The Donny Shirt is a versatile everyday top and a natural next step for learning to
sew collars and sleeves. It is a boxy, pull-on style top without darts, offering plenty
of ease while still maintaining a flattering shape. Students will leave with a finished
garment and greater confidence in garment construction.
Supply List:
· Sewing machine and manual
· Machine needles
· Basic sewing tools: tape measure, scissors, pins, hem gauge, tailor’s chalk or
other marking tool
Materials: (Must be purchased prior to the first class)
· The Donny Shirt pattern by Friday Pattern Co.
· Fabric (see pattern for yardage requirements) – Light to medium-weight woven
fabric. For a blousier look choose a drapier fabric such as rayon. Fabric must be
pre-washed and pressed prior to first meeting.
· Matching thread
· ½ yard of lightweight fusible interfacing
