Applique Quilting & Accuquilt Die Cutting (BAKERSFIELD)

Join Sandra to learn the basics of using Accuquilt to die cut applique pieces and using your applique stitching as part of the quilting for this fun and easy baby quilt. Sandra will share her applique dies for students to use to cut their shapes for the class if students do not have an Accuquilt die cutter. Already have an Accuquilt? Feel free to bring your own cutter and applique dies to use! Students will learn die cutting, creating a simple and adaptable baby quilt and quilting using applique stitching and traditional free motion quilting. Finished quilt size is approximately 44" x 49".

Students are encouraged to attend the "Precut Day" August 7th to prep their appliques for class and learn how to use Accuquilt die cutting. If you have your own Accuquilt, feel free to bring your cutter and desired dies to this session for help with cutting. 

SUPPLY LIST

FABRICS:
* 1 1/2 yds Background fabric
* 1/2 yd EACH (3) different prints for 4 patch blocks
* 1 yd SOLID for 4 patch blocks
* 1 1/4 yd Outer Border fabric
* 1/2 yd Inner Border fabric
* 1/4 yd EACH prints for giraffe, lion and contrast solid (noses/ faces)
* 2 yds Backing 
* Throw sized batting

NOTIONS:
* 2 yds Heat n Bond Ultra or preferred fusible for appliques
* Threads to match appliques
* Thread for piecing & free motion quilting

* Sewing machine and manual
* 1/4" or quilting foot
* Free motion quilting foot for your machine
* Walking Foot (optional)
* Extension table for your sewing machine (optional but makes your life easier)
* Small scissors
* 8 1/2 X 24 1/2" ruler and 6 1/2" square ruler (recommend Creative Grid rulers)
* Cutting mat 18 X 24"
* Seam ripper
* Glass head pins
* Project box
* Pencil and paper for notes

** Pattern and directions for the quilt created by Sandra will be provided the day of class
